Farmers digging a well in 1974 uncovered what is now considered one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world.

Pre-Columbian Display

The newest collection, Cronin collection, is currently on display in the Mesoamerican area of the Ancient Cultures area. The indigenous cultures of Costa Rica produced artistic works in various medias during pre-Columbian times (up until the Spanish conquest). The objects included in this collection date from about 1000 BC to 1450 AD.
