Utah Septarian Nodules are found about 15 miles east of Zion National park, Utah. They were formed in an ancient sea floor during the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods, 70 – 50 million years ago.  Although Septarian nodules can be found in other parts of the world, the ones from Utah are the most gorgeous (in my opinion). The composition of Septarian Nodules is as follows:

Yellow Centers …..Calcite

Brown Lines……Aragonite

Grey Rock ….Bentonite

White or Clear ….Barite
